Alongside the office units and knock-down houses we build in our own factory, Container To Build also rents out used 20 ft steel shipping containers by the month for storing materials, tools and stock on site. The containers are left as they are — no conversion — which is why the rent stays low. We only carry the 20 ft size and only rent it out; we do not stock 40 ft containers and do not sell containers.

20 ft container dimensions
- External (W × L × H): about 2.44 × 6.06 × 2.59 m
- Internal: about 2.35 × 5.90 × 2.39 m — roughly 13.8 m² of floor and 33 m³ of volume
- Double steel doors at one end, 2.34 m wide × 2.28 m high — pallets and forklifts fit
Every container is checked before delivery
Shipping containers are built to keep out seawater and spray, so leaks are rare. A container that has worked for years at sea can, however, have spots where rust has eaten through. We inspect every container and repair any rust-through before it reaches your site. The container you see in our yard is the container you get.
Locking
No lock is supplied. You bring your own padlock, so the only key is in your hands from day one.
What it is used for
- Construction sites — keep tools, materials and equipment dry and secure
- Factories and warehouses — extra storage without putting up a building
- Shops, events and relocations — hold stock and belongings while space is sorted out
Need insulated storage with power?

FAQ
Is there a minimum rental period?
Rent is charged monthly. Tell us how long you need it and we will quote a rate for that term.
Do I need a concrete base?
No. Level ground firm enough to carry the weight is all it takes; you can start loading the day it arrives.
Can the container be moved to another site later?
Yes. Give us notice to arrange the truck and crane; transport is charged by distance.
Do you have 40 ft containers, or sell containers?
No. We only carry the 20 ft size and only rent it out — we do not stock 40 ft containers and do not sell containers.
Can I see the container first?
Yes. Contact us to arrange a visit to our yard.
